Should not horses be treated equally to dogs?

The story about the ridiculous offence of calling a police horse gay prompts me to ask, why is it that dog owners must clean up after their pet or face a fine/hearing (fairly enough), police horses can go around dropping shit all over the place (gosh, can I say that? is that impolite to the horse?) without any attempt being made to pick it up?

Sure if they are in "hot pursuit" it might be excused, but when they are just going for a pleasant morning amble - as I've seen them doing regularly from my last two central London residences, why can't they clean up after themselves?

This is definitely discriminatory ...

Yes, the address has an extra "i". It was because when I signed up there was already a philobiblon - and I didn't think it mattered - the whole thing would probably be a flash in the pan anyway .... Now here I am.

LOL. Love that story. Was he making an unsubstantiated claim regarding the horse's sexuality (did the courts check-stand him near a nice mare and wait for Jake-the-Peg?), or was he merely using the term in the South Park sense? The copper should have demanded that he 'respect my auth-or-i-ti', Cartman style. Bystanders would have appreciated the pun.

Surprisingly police rarely ever take time out to arrest gangs of booze-swilling hooded youths running riot and terrorising estates! And should they ever do so, by accident, magistrates never seem to find it appropriate to bang them up in the interests of public safety.

Dogs/horses. Because there are vast numbers of dog owners and its easy for them to clear the foul stuff up from areas frequented by kids, but there are only a few horse owners, and there would be even fewer if they dismounted on busy roads with a carrier bag and a scoop as drivers whizzed by at stupid speeds.

They should make cat owners responsible for their pets' crap. Foul stuff and it's everywhere.

Clanger.
